If you’ve decided to skip hiring a makeup artist for your wedding and are planning to do your own makeup, don’t worry—I’ve got 5 essential tips to help you achieve beautiful, long-lasting wedding day makeup, all done by YOU.
- Keep It Natural
In my opinion, wedding makeup should always feel soft, natural, and timeless. You don’t want to look back at your wedding photos and feel like the makeup is taking the spotlight. I recommend building your makeup gradually, rather than layering it on thick. Start with a little bit, then add more as needed. Take your time, enjoy getting ready, sip some champagne, and remember to relax! - Test Your Foundation in Advance
Make sure to try out your foundation well before your wedding day. It’s important to wear it for a few weeks leading up to the big day. You don’t want to try a new foundation for the first time on your wedding day, even if a friend swears by it. What works for them may not be right for your skin type or tone, so testing it out ahead of time will ensure it’s a perfect match for you. - Set It and Forget It
Set your foundation with a powder—whether it’s translucent or one with a little extra coverage. Setting your foundation helps your bronzer and blush go on much more smoothly, and it will make your makeup last all day long.
